![A smiling commuter holds coffee on a train platform, wearing a purple armband with a gold stripe as passengers wait behind him.](https://storage.ghost.io/c/e8/88/e88830a3-d951-4682-b91c-ff9b3de17f28/content/images/2026/10/mon_station_acquaintance-1.jpg)

I've run into the [man who asked about my armband](https://www.projectevan.com/he-asked-why-i-dont-wear-the-armband/) situation quite a few times since then. We usually stop to chat for a minute.

Today he asked about the latest Mabel picture and whether she's always that cooperative.

"Only when it's her idea," I said.

He said that sounded familiar.

Then we spent a few minutes complaining about the train being late.
