The Second Sky (part 8)

At dawn in the snowy upper yard, Sela and Rovan learn the west road is unsafe as three travelers arrive from afar.

Sela meets Deren and two travelers, samples an outer-inlet berry, and teases Rovan about his talent for gossip.

Indoors by lamplight, Deren shares distant rumors before the group sings; Sela is surprised by Rovan’s beautiful voice.

A storm tears loose a hide roof; Sela, Rovan, Deren, Pell, and others battle snow and wind to secure the lean-to.

The next morning, Sela, Rovan, and the others assess frayed rope, wet fodder, and repairs while discussing uncertain southern rumors.

With the road open again, Sela and Rovan share a second kiss before she departs west with Deren and the travelers.
